The Bolivian war of independence began in 1809 with the establishment of juntas in Sucre and La Paz. The war culminated sixteen years later with the creation of the Republic of Bolivia.
The War of the Confederation:
The War of the Confederation (also known in Chile as the Chilean-Confederation war) (1836 - 1839), was a conflict between the Peru-Bolivian Confederation on one side and Chile, Argentina, and Northern Peruvians (Restorative Army) on the other, fought mostly in the actual territory of Peru and which ended with a Confederate defeat and the dissolution of the Confederacy.
The War of the Pacific:
The War of the Pacific, occurring from 1879-1883, was a conflict between Chile and the joint forces of Bolivia and Peru. Also known as the "Saltpeter War", the war arose from disputes over the control of territory that contained substantial mineral-rich deposits. It ultimately led to the Chilean annexation of the Peruvian Tarapacá department and Arica province, as well as the Bolivian department of Litoral, leaving Bolivia as a landlocked country.
TheChacoWar:
The Chaco War (1932–1935) was fought between Bolivia and Paraguay over control of a great part of the Gran Chaco region of South America, which was incorrectly thought to be rich in oil. Bolivia lost this war to Paraguay after this war between 1936-1939 the country became a military socialistic country, they also nationalized standard oil holdings. Which was unfortunately a bad choice because then they had to pay to export. Below are fighter planes that were used by the Bolivians in this war.
